UNITED METHODIST MEN
PURPOSE
United Methodist Men shall be a creative, supportive fellowship of men who seek to know Jesus Christ, to grow spiritually, and to seek daily his will. It's primary purpose is to declare the centrality of Christ in the lives of men and in all their relationships.
MONTHLY BREAKFAST MEETING
Our group holds a breakfast meeting every second Wednesday of the month at 6:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. One of our members prepares breakfast and one prepares a short devotional message. We meet early in the morning and dismiss at 7:30 so working people can get to work on time. We fellowship together and pray for one another. We use our business time to plan and advance our mission projects which we support each year. All male members of the methodist church are methodist men and we urge you to join us at our regular scheduled meeting on the second Wednesday of each month.
Grace Camp is our major ministry every year. It is a very special summer camp for children with one or more incarcerated parents. Our UMM have supported GODS REALLY ALTERNATIVE CAMPING EXPERIENCE for the past three years. It costs $250 to pay the tuition for one camper. This year our group sponsored nineteen campers at a cost of $4,750. Most of that money was raised at our Lenten Fish Fry and the Jambalaya Dinner in the summer. Our continuing Screaming Owl Salsa sales every second Sunday also contributes greatly to our mission. The UMM would not turn away any contributions toward GRACE CAMP if you want to help financially. Every year we have helped more children and we hope to sponsor more than nineteen this year.
SCREAMING OWL SALSA
The children at the Methodist Children's Home in Ruston grow tomatoes and make a very fine salsa. Our UMM group sales this salsa to our congregatation every second Sunday of the month. The salsa comes in three heats: Just a Tad Warm, Pretty Darn Hot, and Holy Cow, it's screaming hot! There is a hybrid called Screaming Tail Feathers made with medium (Pretty Darn Hot) and black beans and corn. All are delicious and sell for $4.00 a jar. The Children's Home also makes seasonal jelly as the fruit ripens.

Mission Sunday is the 2nd Sunday of EVERY month and the Men will be selling Screaming Owl Salsa again. All four heats are in stock. (Mild)- JUST A TAD WARM, (med)- PRETTY DARN HOT, (hot)- HOLY COW, IT'S SCREAMIN HOT, and a derivative that is Pretty Darn Hot (med) with corn and black beans -SCREAMING TAIL FEATHERS! When available, we also sell various flavors of home made jelly. All of the Screaming Owl Products are made by the Methodist Children's Home and your purchase helps them and our local UMM missions. All products are priced at $4.00. We also make them available at all of our fund raiser events or you can call the church office (225) 344-9100 anytime and place an order with Kim.
The special mission project of Ingleside UMM is funding scholarships for kids to attend G.R.A.C.E. CAMP (God's Really Alternative Camping Experience). This camp if only for children and teens who have a father or mother (or both) incarcerated in jail. The goal of this camp is to help break the cycle of violence that surrounds these special children and teens. You can help us to fund this camp by purchasing our dinners and supporting our other fund raisers through out the year. You can also sponsor a child by making a direct donation of $250. to our UMM and making it for "Grace Camp". You may do this in memory or honor of a loved one or a special friend. Donors can be kept anonymous if you like.
